In the last ten years, Catalonia has lost almost all of its satirical publications and its role as the avant-garde in the industry of graphic and written humor. However, it has kept its leadership in the field of humor in the Spanish market due to the increase of comics and showmen in the broadcasting industry and theater. The changes in fashion and taste on the part of the audience have coincided with the circulation of humor on the Web and the mobile phone. The tradition of Catalan humor represented by the great classics of the journalistic culture of the 19th and 20th centuries is in danger of extinction. A critical but non-exhaustive assessment of the publications and radio and television spaces of the 21st century indicates that, with regard to making people laugh, there is an increasing lack of seriousness and more bad humor.
