As repercussões do cuidar: saúde mental de cuidadores familiares de pacientes oncológicos

    Introdução: A presente pesquisa versa sobre cuidadores de pacientes oncológicos e as implicações de suas funções sobre sua saúde mental. Objetivo: Avaliar os níveis de saúde mental dos familiares cuidadores e suas implicações. Método: Trata-se de uma pesquisa de caráter quali-quantitativo do tipo descritiva, realizada nas dependências do Hospital Universitário Santa Terezinha – HUST, de Joaçaba, SC, com 20 (vinte) participantes. Os recursos técnicos utilizados para levantamento de dados e informações foram um Questionário Semiestruturado de dados Sociodemográficos, Questionário de Saúde Geral de Goldberg e Inventários Beck (BHS, BAI, BDI). Resultados: Os resultados obtidos indicam presença de sintomas ansiosos, depressivos e de desesperança em todos os cuidadores familiares entrevistados. Conclusão: Em ampla análise, conclui-se estes não apresentarem, em sua maioria, níveis graves ou superiores à média geral indicada, assinalando a necessidade e importância de se desenvolver novos estudos acerca do tema e promover o estabelecimento de estratégias de prevenção e enfrentamento.

    Background: This research deals with caregivers of cancer patients and the implications of their roles on their mental health. Aim: Evaluating the mental health levels of family caregivers and their implications. Method: This is a qualitative and quantitative research of the descriptive type, carried out on the premises of the Hospital Universitário Santa Terezinha – HUST, in Joaçaba, SC, with 20 (twenty) participants. The technical resources used for collecting data and information were a Semi-structured Questionnaire of Sociodemographic data, Goldberg’s General Health Questionnaire and Beck Inventories (BHS, BAI, BDI). Results: The results obtained indicate the presence of anxious, depressive and hopeless symptoms in all the family caregivers interviewed. Conclusions: In a broad analysis it is concluded that these do not present, for the most part, severe levels or higher than the general average indicated, pointing out the need and importance to develop new studies on the subject and promote the establishment of prevention and coping strategies.
