  El mar rojo, a lo largo su historia ha generado diversos y complejos problemas a la navegación. Estos desafíos incluyen ataques piratas, efectos de las guerras como la de los Seis Días entre Israel y Egipto en el mismo canal de Suez, e incluso accidentes marítimos como el bloqueo de uno de los buques portacontenedores más grandes del mundo, el Ever Given.

  Actualmente, los hutíes de Yemen vuelven a generar pánico en el mar Rojo con sus continuos ataques a la navegación. Ante esta situación, la inmensa mayoría de las empresas navieras han tomado la decisión de modificar sus rutas y bordear el cabo de Buena Esperanza. Si el conflicto se alargara hasta verano, situación nada deseada, también se podría optar el navegar por el Ártico, aunque presenta numerosos inconvenientes por el momento. Además de analizar las consecuencias económicas, también se examinarán las implicaciones militares en la zona y los buques que han sido objetivo de diversos ataques por parte de los Hutíes. Entre estas medidas, es importante destacar la liderada por EE.UU, denominada Operación Guardián de la Prosperidad o la reciente europea llamada Aspides.

  Throughout its history, the Red Sea has created very diverse and complex problems for navigation. Whether due to high pirate attacks, the impact of wars such as the Six-Day war between Israel and Egypt in the Suez Canal, or even maritime accidents such as the blocking of one of the world’s largest container ships, the Ever Given.

  Currently, the Houthi rebels in Yemen are once again causing panic in the Red Sea with their continuous attacks on navigation. In view of this situation, the vast majority of shipping companies have decided to alter their routes and circumnavigate the Cape of Good Hope. If the conflict were to extend until summer, an undesirable scenario, there could also be the option of navigating through the Arctic, although it presents inconveniences at the moment. In addition to analyzing the economic consequences, attention is also given to the military developments occurring in the area, as well as the ships that have been targeted in various attacks by the Houthis. Among these measures, it is important to highlight those led by the US, known as Operation Prosperity Guardian or the recent European initiative called Aspides.
