The data result from an investigation in the initial years of schooling in which children are introduced to the universe of reading and writing, which is why participant observation is adopted as a research methodology. When turning to issues related to the appropriation of written language, it is based on Mikhail Bakhtin's discursive perspective of language, indicating that discursive statements are formed in the context of the relationships that children establish with their peers, notably in the school space. . It concludes that school is a primary environment for children to experience childhood, marked by joy and dialogue, enhancing the production of written texts.
