Resumen de Introducción: El bilingüismo en el marco de las asimetrías funcionales hemisféricas

  Se presenta una visión panorámica de las dificultades con las que se enfrentan las investigaciones sobre la alteralización de los bilingües. En este sentido, se analizan la definición y medida en relación con el bilingüismo, la propia naturaleza de la especialización hemisférica y las limitaciones inherentes a los métodos utilizados. Se revisa la hipótesis sobre la mayor participación del hemisferio derecho en los bilingües y los datos clínicos y experimentales relacionados, unas veces favorables y otras contrarios o incluso mal interpretados. También se comenta la implicación del hemisferio derecho en la adquisición de una segunda lengua.

  The paper is a survey of the difficulties found by the researchs on the bilingual lateralization. Thus the authors analyse the definition and measure of bilingualism, the nature of hemispheric especialization and the limits of the methods employed in the researchs. The authors review the hypothesis of higher participation of the right hemisphere in the bilinguals and the clinical and experimental related data. These data are favorable to the hypothesis some times, others are against it and there are cases of wrong interpretation of the results. Finally, they comment the implication of the right hemisphere in the acquisition of a second language.
