    In L’Hiver en Arcadie by Jean-Yves Laurichesse, the reader is struck both by the mysterious atmosphere of the text and by the insistence throughout the book on the weather conditions that play an important role in its story. Bringing these two elements of the text into interaction with one another, this essay explores their relation to the theme of artistic creation through a network of ekphrastic and intertextual references. It concludes that for Laurichesse, the unavoidable mysteries of human existence are transcended by the enriching and transformative power of art.

    Dans L’Hiver en Arcadie de Jean-Yves Laurichesse, le lecteur est frappé à la fois par l’ambiance mystérieuse du texte et par l’insistance tout au long du livre sur les conditions atmosphériques qui jouent un rôle important dans l’histoire. Proposant l’interaction de ces deux éléments du texte, nous en examinons le rapport au thème de la création artistique à travers un complexe de références ekphrastiques et intertextuelles. Nous concluons que pour Laurichesse, le pouvoir enrichissant et transformateur de l’art transcende les mystères inévitables de la vie humaine.
