    We endeavor here to show how the “feeling of the sentence” (an allusion to Millet’s title) contributes to the “feeling of the language”, and, therefore, how a certain form of sentence refers to a certain conception of literature. To do this, we rely on a few sentences taken from authors as different as Millet, Michon, Kerangal or Ernaux, Goux, Mingarelli or Laurichesse to try to determine – whether the writing is “flat” or whether it exhibits its effects, whether the sentence is short or develops infinitely – what a literary language is.

    On s’attache ici à montrer comment le « sentiment de la phrase » (allusion au titre de Millet) participe du « sentiment de la langue », et, partant, comment une certaine forme de phrase renvoie à une certaine conception de la littérature. On s’appuie pour ce faire sur quelques phrases prises chez des auteurs aussi différents que Millet, Michon, Kerangal ou Ernaux, Goux, Mingarelli ou Laurichesse pour tenter de cerner – que l’écriture soit « plate » ou qu’elle exhibe ses effets, que la phrase soit courte ou qu’elle se développe à l’infini – ce qu’est une langue littéraire.
