O impacto da religiosidade no enfrentamento positivo e negativo da dor em mulheres com fibromialgia

    The study assessed the relationship between intrinsic religiosity (IR), organizational religiosity (OR), non-organizational religiosity (NOR) and positive or negative religious coping with pain in women with fibromyalgia (FM). The sample consisted of 123 participants, mean age 45.3 years, who identified with some religion. A sociodemographic questionnaire, the Duke University Religiosity Index (DUREL-R) and the Religious Coping with Pain Scale were used. It was found that positive coping with pain was predictive of a lower level of RI, and correlated with lower levels of IR, OR and NOR. Negative coping was correlated with a higher level of OR. Considering the variation in the demographic characteristics of the participants, these data should be interpreted with caution.

    O estudo avaliou a relação entre as dimensões religiosidade intrínseca (RI), organizacional (RO), não-organizacional (RNO) e o enfrentamento religioso, positivo ou negativo frente à dor, em mulheres com fibromialgia (FM). A amostra foi composta por 123 participantes, idade média de 45,3 anos, que se identificavam com alguma religião. Foram aplicados o Questionário sociodemográfico, Índice de Religiosidade de Universidade de Duke (DUREL-R) e Escala de Enfrentamento religioso frente à dor. Constatou-se que o enfrentamento positivo frente à dor foi preditivo para o menor nível de RI, e correlacionou-se ao menor nível de RI, RO e RNO. O enfrentamento negativo correlacionou-se ao maior nível de RO. Considerando a variação das características demográficas dos participantes, esses dados devem ser interpretados com cautela.
