Resumen de Narrativas da Revolução Cubana: um estudo sobre dois periódicos católicos brasileiros (1959 – 1961)

  O artigo trata das representações políticas da figura de Fidel Castro e da revolução cubana em dois jornais brasileiros católicos, com objetivo central de analisar como o processo revolucionário foi compreendido entre janeiro de 1959, data de sua vitória, e a declaração do caráter assumidamente socialista, em 16 de abril de 1961. Durante esse período, a questão nacional e anti-imperialista se apresentava como o núcleo duro do movimento liderado por Castro e o socialismo não foi tão evidenciado, chegando a ser negado por seus líderes. Isso foi lentamente se transformando e por meio das notícias sobre Cuba publicadas nos jornais O Diário, da Arquidiocese de Belo Horizonte, e Brasil Central, da Arquidiocese de Goiânia, estudaremos os discursos construídos acerca desse evento fulcral. Demonstramos que as narrativas e valores difundidos por essas duas igrejas particulares foram distintos, incorporando o polarizado contexto da Guerra Fria de maneira ambígua. Com isso, averiguamos e buscamos dar uma nova visão dos protocolos do anticomunismo elaborados pelo catolicismo no Brasil.

  The article deals with the political representations of the figure of Fidel Castro and Cuban revolution in two Catholic periodicals, with the central objective of analyzing how the revolutionary process was understood between January 1959, the date of his victory, and the declaration of its socialist character, on the 16th of April 1961. During this period, the national and anti-imperialist issue presented itself as the hard core of the movement led by Fidel Castro and socialism was not as evident, even being denied by its leaders. This was slowly transforming and, through the news about Cuba published in the newspapers O Diário, from the Archdiocese of Belo Horizonte, and Brasil Central,from the Archdiocese of Goiânia, we will study the discourses constructed around this pivotal event. We demonstrate that the narratives and values disseminated by these two particular churches were distinct, incorporating the polarized context of the Cold War in an ambiguous way. With this, we investigated and sought to give a new vision of the anti-communism protocols drawn up by Catholicism in Brazil.
