    Taking an interest in the actors of the school, in their experiences, and in the modalities of teaching within local school systems in the Middle East, it is possible to renew the history of education in the region. The choice was made here to focus on a local but foreign school system in Iran, that of the “Alliance israélite universelle” (AIU) during the years 1898-1908, and to study within it: on the one hand, the profile and the daily life of the students; on the other hand, the mode of teaching French as a second language by the “direct method” and the knowledge acquired or representations that resulted from it. In a context of emerging new educational expectations, the AIU network has had many socio-political impacts in Iran and has been a direct source of inspiration for the new national schools.

    S’intéresser aux acteurs de l’école, à leur vécu et aux modalités d’enseignement au sein des systèmes scolaires locaux au Moyen-Orient permet de renouveler l’histoire de l’éducation portant sur la région. Le choix a été fait ici de se concentrer, en Iran dans les années 1898-1908, sur un système scolaire local mais étranger, celui de l’Alliance israélite universelle (AIU), et d’étudier à la fois le profil, le quotidien des élèves, le mode d’enseignement, par la « méthode directe », de la langue française en tant que langue seconde et les savoirs acquis ou représentations qui en ont découlé. Dans un contexte d’émergence de nouvelles attentes éducatives, le réseau scolaire de l’AIU a eu de nombreux impacts sociopolitiques en Iran et représenté une source d’inspiration directe pour les nouvelles écoles nationales.

    من شأن الاهتمام بالأطراف الفاعلة في المدارس وواقعها المعيش وطرائق التعليم داخل المنظومات المدرسية المحلية في الشرق الأوسط أن تجدّد تاريخَ التربية في المنطقة. اخْتِير هنا التركيزُ على منظومة مدرسية محلية لكنها أجنبية في إيران سنوات ١٨٩٨-١٩٠٨، ألا وهي منظومة الاتحاد الإسرائيلي العالمي، وعلى دراسة كل من الملف الشخصي للتلاميذ وحياتهم اليومية، ونمط تعليم اللغة الفرنسية كلغة ثانية باستخدام "المنهج المباشر" والمعارف المكتسبة أو التمثّلات التي تولدت منها. وقد كان لشبكة مدارس الاتحاد الإسرائيلي العالمي – في سياق ميزه بروز تطلعات تربوية جديدة – العديد من الآثار السوسيو-سياسية في إيران، كما أنها مثلت مصدر إلهام مباشر للمدارس القومية الجديدة.
