El problema del Otro: perspectivas materialistas y latinoamericanas

    El objetivo del presente texto es proponer que, en el pensamiento amerindio, principalmente el amazónico, se encuentra una experiencia del Otro que difiere significativamente de la experiencia Occidental, tanto en sus relaciones concretas como en su conceptualización. Afirmamos, incluso, que el mismo «problema del Otro» se inscribe dentro de las coordenadas del pensamiento occidental europeo por lo que, si lo abordamos con una perspectiva amerindia, desaparece en tanto problema. Desde una perspectiva euro-occidental, el Otro ha sido abordado de dos maneras: según la lógica de la totalidad, que supuso la negación y el encubrimiento del Otro, y según la lógica de la alteridad, que estableció al Otro en tanto exterioridad que debía guiar la acción ética. Desde una perspectiva latinoamericana, por el contrario, el Otro es parte constitutiva de la unidad social que, a su vez, es pensada materialmente en tanto cuerpo. El cuerpo, en tanto unidad inestable y vulnerable, convierte a lo Otro en lo Común. El problema del Otro, así, desaparece.

    The objective of this text is to propose that, in Amerindian thought, mainly Amazonian, there is an experience of the Other that differs significantly from the Western experience, both in its concrete relationships and in its conceptualization. We even affirm that the same "problem of the Other" is inscribed within the coordinates of Western-European thought so, if we approach it with an Amerindian perspective, it disappears as a problem. From a Euro-Western perspective, the Other has been approached in two ways: according to the logic of totality, which entailed the denial and concealment of the Other, and according to the logic of alterity, which established the Other as an exteriority that should guide ethical action. From a Latin American perspective, on the contrary, the Other is a constitutive part of the social unit that, in turn, is materially thought as a body. The body, as an unstable and vulnerable unit, turns the Other into the Common. The problem of the Other, thus, disappears.
