Exposiciones de estampas japonesas en España en el siglo XXI: Nuevos discursos y enfoques

    Este trabajo analiza las principales exposiciones sobre estampa japonesa que se han exhibido en España en el siglo XXI. En el siglo XX la mayoría de las exposiciones fueron generalistas para presentar los grandes maestros y temas del grabado ukiyo-e. Este planteamiento ha sido seguido por algunas instituciones para presentar sus fondos en el siglo XXI. Sin embargo, en esta centuria también encontramos nuevos discursos y enfoques, que van desde exposiciones centradas en la técnica, en temáticas concretas, en determinados autores más novedosos o con una perspectiva de género. Asimismo, la celebración de exposiciones sobre el fenómeno del Japonismo han permitido resaltar la importancia de las estampas en la influencia del arte japonés en España. Todas estas exposiciones se han realizado tanto de fondos públicos como de coleccionistas privados. El comisariado de este tipo de exposiciones tiende a especializarse en historiadores del arte expertos en arte japonés y adscrito a universidades españolas. El interés del público por la cultura visual japonesa actual y el fenómeno del Neojaponismo han potenciado también las exposiciones sobre el grabado ukiyo-e, en especial las de temática fantástica, de guerreros y humorística.

    This paper analyzes the main exhibitions on Japanese prints in Spain in the 21st century. In the 20th century most of the exhibitions there were many general exhibitions to present the great masters and themes of ukiyo-e printmaking. This approach has been followed by some institutions to present their collections in the 21st century. However, in this century we also find new discourses and approaches, ranging from exhibitions focused on technique, on specific themes, on certain new authors or with a gender perspective. Likewise, the holding of exhibitions on the phenomenon of Japanism has made it possible to highlight the importance of prints in the influence of Japanese art in Spain. All these exhibitions have been held both from public funds and private collectors. The curators of these exhibitions are art historians who are experts in Japanese art and work in Spanish universities. The public's interest in current Japanese visual culture and the phenomenon of Neo-Japanism has also been represented in the exhibitions on ukiyo-e engraving, especially those with fantastic, warrior and humorous themes.
