Lo indisociable entre su procedencia insular y su universalidad no es sino el aspecto más visible de una obra que busca resolver sin vulnerar los binomios más contrapuestos. Así, sus plasmaciones no distinguen entre levedad y gravedad, viento y hierro, naturaleza y abstracción, minimalismo y voluminosidad, horizontalidad y verticalidad o armonía y tensión.

  I have always wished for my work to be not a sign but a path, not a gesture but a presence», Martín Chirino stated towards the end of his life, revealing the consistent fixation of his sculpture. The inseparable connection between his island origins and his universality is but the most visible aspect of a work that seeks to resolve without compromising the most contrasting dichotomies. Thus, his creations make no distinction between lightness and gravity, wind and iron, nature and abstraction, minimalism and voluminosity, horinzontality and verticality or harmony and tension.
