Resumen de El hambre durante la Guerra Civil en Cataluña. Recomendaciones nutricionales del Institut de Fisiologia de Barcelona

  Se estudia el contenido de varios documentos custodiados en el Archivo de la Fundación Juan Negrín (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria). Entre ellos destaca el acta de una reunión celebrada el 2 de julio de 1938 en el Institut de Fisiologia de  Barcelona, en la que se analizaba la situación alimentaria de la población catalana y se ofrecían directrices para el futuro. Se traza un recorrido previo por la situación alimentaria de la zona republicana durante la contienda incidiendo especialmente en el escenario catalán, con una Barcelona en la que coexistían el Gobierno central y el de la Generalitat. También se analizan monografías de la época relacionadas con la alimentación en tiempos de guerra, así como la experiencia de los miembros del Institut de Fisiologia en cuestiones de nutrición y su relación durante este periodo con el presidente del Gobierno Juan Negrín y su entorno. Se discute el significado de las recomendaciones ofrecidas por el Institut de Fisiologia y las publicaciones  coetáneas.

  The content of various documents kept in the Archive of the Juan Negrín Foundation (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) is studied, among which the minutes of a meeting held on July 2, 1938 at the Institut de Fisiologia of Barcelona stand out, in which the resources available to feed the Catalan population within the war scenario that was being experienced were analyzed and guidelines were offered to improve them and face the uncertainties that were coming. A preliminary tour of the food situation in the republican zone during the war is traced, focusing especially on the Catalan scenario, with a Barcelona in which the central government and the Generalitat coexisted. Monographs of that time related to food in times of war are also analyzed, as well as the experience of the members of the Institut de Fisiologia in matters of nutrition and their relationship during this period with the President of the Government Juan Negrín and his environment. The meaning of the recommendations offered by the Institut de Fisiologia and contemporary publications are discussed.
