    In dieser Studie beschreiben wir Form und Funktion von Topic-comment Strukturen in einer Stichprobe von Jornal Nacionaldie elf Jahre beträgt von einer Funktionalen Perspektive. Während Funktionen überlappend sind, sind die ersciedenen Formem ausschließend, was folgende Verbindungen erlaubt: die Trennungs und Prädikationsfunktion sind in allen syntaktischen Gebilden erkennbar; und die Adressierung und Rahmenfunktion sind jeweils ausschließlich der hanging topics anwendbar. Diese Funktionen sind Anweisungen wie der Inhalt der Äußerung interpretiert werden soll, deshalb sind mehr Funktionen nötig je weniger topic und comment syntaktisch integriert sind.

    In a functionalist perspective, we present a description of form and function of topic-comment constructions found in samples collected along eleven years of a traditional TV news program, Jornal Nacional. While functions are cumulative, forms are complementary, allowing some connections: the functions of separation and predication apply to all syntactic arrangements; and the functions of addressation and frame-setting are specific of hanging topics. These functions work like instructions to interpret the content of the utterance, therefore more functions are needed as the syntactic integration between topic and comment diminishes.

    Apresentamos, numa perspectiva funcionalista, uma descrição da forma e função de construções de tópico-comentário encontradas em amostras de edições do Jornal Nacional coletadas ao longo de onze anos. Enquanto as funções são cumulativas, as formas são complementares, permitindo as seguintes associações: as funções de separar e predicar se fazem perceptíveis em todos os arranjos sintáticos, ao passo que as funções de addressation e frame-setting são específicas de anacolutos. Essas funções equivalem a instruções de como interpretar o conteúdo do enunciado, de modo que mais funções acumuladas são mobilizadas à medida em que a integração sintática entre tópico e comentário diminui.
