Resumen de Lucio V. Mansilla en el Paraguay: un territorio propio

Este trabajo se propone leer un conjunto de artículos en que Lucio V. Mansilla configura a Paraguay como campo de experiencias y escenario de observaciones, y como un territorio que integra en, y a la vez amplía, el mapa de su mundo. Sin incluir aquí los vinculados con la Guerra de Paraguay, el trabajo agrupa textos publicados entre 1878 y 1889 en dos grandes series: por un lado, se leen las formas narrativas e imágenes ensayadas por Mansilla como explorador en su expedición al país del oro; por otro, el conjunto de representaciones políticas y culturales sobre el Paraguay pre y posbélico en el que interviene Mansilla como viajero extranjero, también en los años de posguerra.

This paper proposes a reading of a collection of articles by Lucio V. Mansilla in which the author describes Paraguay as a field of experiences and a scenario of observations, as well as a territory that is part of his own world,whileat the same time expands this map. Without including articles related to the Paraguayan War, wepresentseveral texts published between 1878 and 1889 and organizethem in two main series: on the one hand, those where we read the narrative forms and images that Mansilla essayed as an explorer in his expedition to the country of gold; on the other hand, we present the political and cultural representations about pre-and post-war Paraguay in which Mansilla intervened as a foreign traveler, also in the post-war years.
