This research entitled: Gamification in mathematics as an empowering tool in teaching work, began with a central objective, to determine the importance of updating mathematics teachers in the incorporation of gamification in high school didactic practices. The approach was quantitative, two surveys were applied: one aimed at 333 students and the other at 14 teachers, belonging to two institutions, selected by simple random sampling. In the results, it could be determined that among the students of Educational Unit A and B, the acceptance of the Kahoot and Quizizz tool predominates, in their opinion, they positively value the implementation of game mechanics in the mathematics subject because it encourages participation and motivates them to learn. In this way, it was possible to identify that teachers incorporate gamification in both groups, providing many benefits, among the most relevant, attention, concentration and motivation in the student body. In conclusion, it is essential to continue developing digital skills in mathematics teachers that COVID 19 prompted by haste, generating this emerging update in teachers and thus being able to meet the needs of students.
