Resumen de As metáforas sobre os meios de comunicação de massa contidas no curta metragem de animação “Média”

Welerson Rezende Morais, Maurício Silva Gino, Ronaldo Luiz Nagem

  • Discussions about the influence of media on people and the influence of people on the media has been raised sincethe early twentieth century, when they started the first studies on the of mass media in Europe and the United States. As part of this discussion, we can mention the movie Media (Czech Republic, 2000), Pavel Koutsky. In this shortanimated film, which uses techniques like the cartoon, the stop-motion and pixilation, a man receives informationthrough newspapers that are thrown by large hands. While the hands throw the newspapers in man, it is observedthat it moves a complex gear, which in turn moves the hands that throw the newspapers, closing the cycle. As anexploratory study, this film was presented to a class of degree in Design at a university in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, inorder to check for identification with concepts and schools to discuss the means of mass communication through themetaphors contained in the film. It was observed that the interpretations of the students on the metaphors containedin the film are very similar to the interpretations of the first schools of the mass media. It was felt therefore thatthere seems to be a kind of common sense on these researches by students who had not yet studied the principals’schools that discussing the mass media.
