  • Resumen
    • During the last decade, the community audiovisual production in Brazil has increased exponentially. Today, there areinnumerous initiatives being realized by different organizations and social groups all across the country. However, from the early initiatives of popular video at the 1980’s to the contemporary context, many things have deeplychanged: not only the technical structures, the forms of distribution and the importance of the theme to publicdebate, but specially the analytical framework available to understand this experiences. Facing this profoundtransformation and the relative delay of the existent analyses, the aim of this article is to offer an accurate view ofthe current production, grounded on a concrete experience and based on the articulation of aesthetic and politicinsights provided by contemporary philosophers and image researchers such as Jacques Rancière, Georges Didi-Huberman and Jean-Louis Comolli.Rede Jovem de Cidadania (RJC) is a project developed since 2003 by Associação Imagem Comunitária [CommunityImage Association], an NGO in activity since 1993, seeking to promote public access to communication and thecreation of aesthetic-expressive experiments in various media. By analyzing the mise-en-scène and montagechoices in some videos produced by RJC, we seek to foster the argument that the potency of this production reliesnot only in its ability to promote social marginalized groups and issues, but mostly in its political/aesthetic capacity torearrange the dominant forms of seeing and hearing, inventing new spaces and times for the appearance of subjectsand creating powerful experiences to the spectator.
