Rosane Vasconcelos Zanotti

  • This text has as its goal to explore some important ideas that may help the understanding of the contemporaneouspopular culture context, launching a look over a peculiar narrative way of our routine, based on the developmentof image production using digital daily gadgets, such as mobile phones, to reduce technical barriers, as well as tospread daily audio-visual production in virtual environments, mainly in YouTube. In a scenery where image is, for many times, treated as the pith of the present society, and where the questionsaround it grow following the technology steps, when knew artifacts, new functions, new impacts and new meaningsgenerate new questions, the phenomenon of the spectacle rises more and more. Starting from Gui Debord concepts, that treat spectacle not as a group of images but from social relations measured by images, we try to understandthe idea of turning everything into a spectacle as a remarkable characteristic of the contemporaneous society.Contemporaneity is here made explicitly by the using of instruments of homemade audiovisual production andby the publishing of everyday narrative in YouTube, what makes us think about the insertion of the individual ina context where the possibility of seeing walks hand-in-hand with the possibility of being seen, and where onespectator connects to others not only in a society of images, but also in an exhibitionist one.
