This text results from a qualitative research and exploratory level on the image of the teenager in Brazilian cinema.It is intended, from the analysis of verba and visual signs, to identify how this social actor is shown in nationalproductions. Initially, a historiographical research of films with this kind of character since the 1950s, in which it maybe noted the presence of stereotypes that do not always match the reality of the young Brazilian. Then, four filmsmade in 2010 - Antes que o mundo acabe, by Ana Luiza Azevedo, Sonhos roubados, by Sandra Werneck, Osfamosos e os duendes da morte, by Esmir Filho, and As melhores coisas do mundo, directed by Lais Bodansky- to be studied. The analysis comprises the narrative and the art direction, in which are privileged aspects ofinnovation of languages, whereas the recent Brazilian film productions aim to conquer a new market niche largelyexplored by Brazilian television productions and the international cinema.
