María Fátima Ferreira Nunes

  • During the nineties, China reached a time with very rapid changes towards a market economy. This contextualitycarries profound changes in human relationships, and even the destruction of places of affection and intimacybetween people, and, the sudden enrichment of a fringe of population connected to the highest echelons of theregime also the aggravation of poverty, crime and unemployment. It’s in the end of this decade that arrives JiaZhang-Ke, a young filmmaker who gives strength to a new wave whose main option, consists in observe and recordchanges in the lives of the individuals, resulting from the impact of globalization in China. In this context, I proposeto examine how change is represented by Jia Zhang-ke in his work. Change in everyday Chinese at various levels:changes in the daily life of Chinese people, work, family, human relations and way of life. Change in the philosophicalenvironment, from which, Jia Zhang-Ke interview, takes notes, writes and records the phenomena of the Chinesesociety. A new way to use images words and sounds to represent China.
