João César Monteiro (1939-2003) filmography is one of the portuguese cinema works’ most studied nationally andinternationally. The many dozens of articles on the works’ in general and / or films in particular, as well as the severaldissertations and doctoral theses, present diverse approaches concerning the richness and complexity of the works’director. With this text we intended to inform of the several readings centered in the imaginary (symbols and myths)of monteiriana filmography.
