    La documentación y estudio del flujo de nuevos meteoritos revela la trascendencia de las bases de datos para el análisis científico de estos fenómenos.

    Para ello, se acude a los repositorios más importantes en la catalogación y comprensión de los impactos como la Meteoritical Society, el Meteor Data Center de la Unión Astronómica Internacional y la Earth Impact Database. A través de un recorrido por los eventos de impacto más significativos que han afectado a ecosistemas, personas o bienes (Chicxulub, Cráter Barringer, Tunguska, Sikhote-Alin, Sylacauga, Peekskill, Carancas, 2008 TC3, Cheliábinsk, San Carlos y Menisa) se refuerza la necesidad de conocer en profundidad estos eventos para poder anticipar las estrategias de mitigación de riesgos, pero también de recogida, custodia y conservación de meteoritos, la posibilidad de resolver las cuestiones en torno a la propiedad, así como el examen de las consecuencias legales tras los daños provocados. Además, se resalta el caso de España, donde el hallazgo y estudio de meteoritos en nuestro territorio subraya la necesidad de establecer un marco legal nacional que garantice su protección y uso con fines científicos y educativos.

    The documentation and study of the flux of new meteorites reveal the significance of databases for the scientific analysis of these phenomena.

    To this end, the most important repositories in the cataloguing and impacts understanding are consulted, such as the Meteoritical Society, the Meteor Data Center of the International Astronomical Union, and the Earth Impact Database.

    Through a journey through the most significant impact events that have affected ecosystems, people or property (Chicxulub, Barringer Crater, Tunguska, SikhoteAlin, Sylacauga, Peekskill, Carancas, 2008 TC3, Chelyabinsk, San Carlos, and Menisa), reinforces the need for in-depth knowledge of these events to anticipate risk mitigation strategies, but also for the collection, custody, and conservation of meteorites, the possibility of resolving ownership issues, as well as the examination of the legal consequences of damage. In addition, the case of Spain is highlighted, where the discovery and study of meteorites in our territory underscore the need to establish a national legal framework that ensures their protection and use for scientific and educational purposes.
