The way we see and conceive films contents can be hardly transformed by sound effects, music and musicaldiscourses. Music gives us different readings of emotional characteristics of images and film discourses, providingdissimilar emotional rapports of narrative contents. Composers and sound designers can transform the way weperceived the narrative and their emotional contents using different musical sounds and narratives. This proposal attempts to list some recurrent stylistic features in sound and music narrative of Portuguese cinema, namely short film, examining and discussing some reasons why these narrative tools have become popular amongfilmmakers, composers and sound designers. We start from a given definition of several musical resources andthen, we analyze the recurrence of certain narrative techniques in each component of film sound - voice, music andsound effects - in movies that fit in that definition.
