    La rebelión Mau Mau fue una insurrección armada protagonizada por los kikuyu contra el colonialismo británico en Kenia en los años 50, con el objetivo de recuperar las tierras que les habían sido arrebatadas desde la llegada de los europeos y lograr la descolonización. El hecho de que los rebeldes no solo atacaran a los colonos y las autoridades coloniales, sino también a segmentos de la población nativa que simpatizaban con estos últimos, dotó a la rebelión de una doble imagen: por un lado, una lucha contra la dominación colonial, y por otro, una auténtica guerra civil. Debido a que la literatura en español sobre el tema es muy reducida, el presente artículo pretende ser una aproximación inicial en la que se expliquen las causas, el desarrollo y las consecuencias de la rebelión.

    The Mau Mau Rebellion was an armed insurrection led by the Kikuyu against British colonialism in Kenya in the 1950s, with the goal of recovering the lands that had been taken away from them since the arrival of the Europeans and achieving decolonization. The fact that the rebels did not only attack the settlers and the colonial authorities, but also segments of the native population who sympathized with the latter, gave the rebellion a double image: on the one hand, a fight against colonial dominance, and on the other, a true civil war. Due to the limited literature in Spanish on the subject, this article aims to be an initial approach in which the causes, development and consequences of the rebellion are explained.
