Resumen de Ecos de romances en las literaturas española y portuguesa (siglos XVI-XVII): el caso de «El cautiverio de Guarinos»

Durante los últimos años han recobrado fuerza las investigaciones que examinan el recurso literario de citar y aludir a romances tradicionales, un fenómeno de extrema popularidad durante la tardía Edad Media y la temprana modernidad.
Es una línea de investigación consolidada por Carolina Michaëlis de Vasconcelos en sus Estudos sobre o Romanceiro Peninsular de 1907-1909, donde catalogó y estudio unas doscientas menciones a romances en la literatura portuguesa; y, cuenta, además, con la significativa aportación de María Goyri y Ramón Menéndez Pidal, quienes realizaron un inventario de aproximadamente 1 500 referencias romancísticas en la literatura española como parte del Archivo del Romancero.
A partir del análisis de ambos corpus y teniendo en cuenta las últimas aportaciones críticas en la materia, este artículo pretende estudiar el fenómeno de la alusión a romances en la literaturas española y portuguesa de los siglos xvi y xvii mediante el análisis de caso de uno de los romances carolingios más populares: El cautiverio de Guarinos.

In recent years, there has been an increase of research examining the literary device of quoting and alluding to traditional ballads, a phenomenon of extreme popularity in the late Middle Ages and the Golden Age. It is a line of research consolided by Carolina Michaëlis de Vasconcelos in 1907-1909 with the publication of Estudos sobre o Romanceiro Peninsular, where she catalogued and studied around two hundred echoes of romances in Portuguese literature. It also counts with the significant contribution of María Goyri and Ramón Menéndez Pidal, who made an inventory of approximately 1,500 references to romances in Spanish literature as part of their Romancero Archive. Based on the analysis of both corpora and taking into account the latest critical contributions on the subject, this article aims to study the phenomenon of the allusion to romances in Spanish and Portuguese literatures during the 16th and 17th centuries by means of a case analysis of one of the most popular Carolingian romances: El cautiverio de Guarinos (‘The Captivity of Guarinos’).
