    Durante los últimos años la prevalencia de tabaquismo en mujeres ha aumentado, lo que implica un mayor número de gestantes fumadoras. La matrona es el profesional sanitario que más tiempo pasa junto a la gestante siendo el profesional sanitario idóneo para ayudar a estas pacientes a abandonar este hábito. Los conocimientos previos y las actitudes de las matronas frente a este hábito influirán en gran medida en el éxito de sus intervenciones.

    In recent years, the prevalence of smoking in women has increased, which implies a greater number of pregnant smokers. The midwife is the health professional who spends the most time with the pregnant woman, being the ideal health professional to help these patients abandon this habit. The previous knowledge and attitudes of midwives towards this habit will greatly influence the success of their interventions.
