Análise da competitividade das exportações de óleo essencial e cacau do Haiti: Uma análise empírica

    The purpose of the work consisted in verifying the competitiveness of essential oil and cocoa exports from Haiti between 1991 and 2016. In this sense, we used indicators of competitiveness of the international trade: Revealed Symmetric Comparative Advantages (IVCRS), Commercial Openness Index (IAC) and Coverage Rate (TC), using as basis the data of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and The World Bank. The indicators showed that the country presented revealed comparative advantages in all the period of time studied in both products. The commercial openness of Haiti presented superior growth in relation to the world average, which contributes to the increase of the exports of the country. The Coverage Rate showed the great contribution of cocoa and essential oil to the commercial balance of the country.

    O propósito do trabalho consistiu em verificar a competitividade das exportações de óleo essencial e cacau do Haiti entre 1991 e 2016. Neste sentido, utilizaram-se indicadores de competitividade do comércio internacional: Vantagens Comparativas Reveladas Simétricas (IVCRS), Índice de Abertura Comercial (IAC) e Taxa de Cobertura (TC), tendo como base os dados da Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) e o The World Bank. Os indicadores mostraram que o país apresentou vantagens comparativas reveladas em todo o espaço de tempo estudado em ambos os produtos. A abertura comercial do Haiti apresentou crescimento superior à média mundial, o que contribui para o aumento das exportações do país. A Taxa de Cobertura mostrou a grande contribuição do cacau e do óleo essencial para a balança comercial do país.
