Dilthey's theses on the specificity of the human sciences continue to have effects and guide methodological issues. If the epistemological bias, especially in the historicist and psychological aspects, is no longer acceptable, this does not mean that the distinction between explaining causal and material relations and understanding semantic and social relations has not been eliminated. The historicity and artifactuality of the human environment, in its plurality and diversity, has become an unavoidable foundation. Although there has been progress in the naturalization of the human, the concepts and basic principles of the human sciences are still subsumed in the categories of sense, meaning, intentionality and purpose, which presuppose the application of the concept of interactive agents and not of passive objects.

As teses de Dilthey sobre a especificidade das ciências humanas permanecem fazendo efeitos e orientando as questões metodológicas. Se o viés epistemológico, sobretudo nos aspectos historicistas e psicológicos, já não é aceitável, nem por isso a distinção entre explanar relações causais e materiais e compreender relações semânticas e sociais foi eliminada. A historicidade e a artefatualidade do ambiente humano, na sua pluralidade e diversidade, se impôs como fundamento incontornável. Embora se tenha avançado na naturalização do humano, os conceitos e princípios básicos das ciências humanas ainda são subsumidos nas categorias de sentido, significado, intencionalidade e propósito, as quais pressupõem a aplicação do conceito de agentes interativos e não de objetos passivos.
