    nterview conducted by student IngridBarbosa with Professor PhD. Otávio Santos about the fragmentation of space in Recife and the impact of COVID-19. From the extensive study carried out by the professor on the city of Recife and the space production process, it is possible to apprehend the nuances that aggravate the impact of the pandemic in the city, through a critical analysis of the agents involved and the forces that act in the production of urban space, which permeate the social, political and economic level and which build a model ofthe city geared towards a capitalist dynamic whose product is an unequal and segregated space.

    Entrevista realizada pela estudante de Bacharelado em Ciências Sociais Ingrid Barbosa com o Professor Dr. Otávio Santos sobre a fragmentação do espaço no Recife e o impacto da COVID-19 nesta cidade. A partir do amplo estudo realizado por este pesquisador sobre a cidade do Recife e o processo de fragmentação de seu espaço, foi possível apreender os aspectos que tem concorrido ao agravamento dos impactos da pandemia na cidade. Sua análise crítica sobre os agentes envolvidos e as forças que atuam na produção do espaço urbano evidencia um modelo de cidade voltado para a acumulação de capital.
