  The socio-environmental issue has been the subject of worldwide discussions. Studies on environmental perception contribute to a better understanding of the complexities of society-nature relations. This study aimed to identify and analyze the perception and actions related to vegetation conservation and challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic in rural communities. Interviews were conducted with seven "key informants", and visits were made to the forests and productive units of the communities. The interviewees ranged from 37 to 81 years old and have worked in agriculture since childhood. The conception of nature and the reasons to conserve it are related to the natural mechanisms that make life possible and regulate the climate. The ways of perception and interaction of nature from the interviewers are related to the experience, knowledge, and ways of production and income Generation.

  A questão socioambiental tem sido pauta de discussões mundiais. Estudos sobre a percepção ambiental contribuem para uma melhor compreensão das complexidades nas relações sociedade-natureza. Este estudo objetivou identificar e analisar a percepção e ações relativas à conservação da vegetação e desafios impostos pela pandemia da Covid-19 em comunidades rurais. Foram realizadas entrevistas com sete “informantes-chave” e visitas às matas e unidades produtivas das comunidades. Os entrevistados possuíam idades entre 37 e 81 anos e trabalham na agricultura desde a infância. A concepção de natureza e motivos para conservá-la estão relacionados aos mecanismos naturais que viabilizam a vida e regulam o clima. Os modos de percepção e interação da natureza dos entrevistados estão relacionados à vivência, aos saberes e aos modos de produção e geração de renda.
