The presence of Jean-Baptiste Poquelin on the hispanic stages of the early twentieth century was not only fluctuating, but limited – with the exception of the Catalan case – to only two texts, Le médecin malgré lui and L’Avare. The present study deals with both the lack of celebration for Molière’s tricentennial in Madrid in 1922, and the translations made in those years by Tomás Borrás of the two above-mentioned pieces.
