    Este artículo analiza las actitudes de la población española durante el periodo denominado como «desarrollismo» atendiendo, de una parte, a los discursos y políticas de la dictadura y, de otra, a las respuestas sociales en un contexto marcado por profundas transformaciones en todos los ámbitos. Adoptando una perspectiva «desde abajo» y observando las interacciones entre el régimen y la sociedad, este trabajo evalúa la capacidad de la dictadura para presentarse como un régimen modernizador mediante un discurso apoyado en los mitos de la «paz» y el «progreso». Al mismo tiempo, se examinan los beneficios de algunas políticas específicas, como la de vivienda, para el régimen, así como sus efectos sobre las actitudes sociales gracias a la pervivencia de la memoria del hambre de posguerra y a los deseos de alcanzar los estándares vitales de otras naciones occidentales. Por último, se exploran las ambivalentes y contradictorias actitudes de la población durante el periodo. Se demuestra así la eficacia de las estrategias de legitimidad empleadas por la dictadura franquista, las limitaciones de sus discursos y políticas y las crecientes «resistencias» populares en un contexto de progresiva movilización social.

    This article analyzes the attitudes of the Spanish population during the so-called «developmentalism» period, by paying attention, on the one hand, to the discourses and policies of the dictatorship and, on the other, to the social responses in a context of profound transformations in all fields. By adopting a perspective «from below» and focusing on the interactions between the regime and Spanish society, this study evaluates the capacity of the dictatorship to present itself as a modernizing regime through a discourse supported by the myths of «peace» and «progress». At the same time, it examines the benefits of some specific policies, such as housing, for the regime and its effects on social attitudes thanks to the enduring memory of the «years of hunger» throughout the postwar years, and to the desires of reaching the living standards of other Western nations. Finally, the article explores the ambivalent and contradictory attitudes of the population during the period. It demonstrates the effectiveness of the legitimacy strategies used by the Franco dictatorship, the limitations of its discourses and policies, and the growing popular «resistances» in a context of progressive social mobilization.
