    Desde la década de 1960 los ordenadores han sido una útil herramienta para la enseñanza en Noruega. Los primeros intentos se produjeron con grandes ordenadores y primitivos programas que preguntaban a los alumnos para obtener respuestas afirmativas o negativas, con una asimilación de los conocimientos más bien mecánica y orientada sólo a reproducir hechos. Asimilación que, sin duda, resultaba pedagógicamente imperfecta y mostraba escepticismo en el sentido de lograr la sustitución de los profesores por los ordenadores. Sin embargo, desde el Departamento de Historia de la Universidad de Bergen se están llevando a cabo una serie de iniciativas que pretenden, a través de una aplicación Web, sustituir al profesor. Cada curso académico sólo unos pocos estudiantes necesitan aprender cómo leer manuscritos históricos, o con letra gótica. Esta escritura resulta hoy en día poco familiar para la mayor parte de los estudiantes y sólo unos pocos necesitan profundizar en la misma, sin haber curso alguno en que los aprenda. Ellos mismos terminan realizando este aprendizaje siendo un especialista quien los supervisa. Formalmente, el curso Web no sustituye a ningún profesor puesto que esta tarea no la desempeña nadie. Además es una aplicación que está abierta al público en general. El Archivo del Estado local intenta convertir en digital todos aquellos materiales que con frecuencia aparecen en Internet. La disponibilidad de estos materiales ayuda a la lectura de estos manuscritos, también desde Internet. En el trabajo que se presenta se abre un debate sobre las aplicaciones on-line, especialmente sobre aquéllas que pretenden "sustituir" al profesor. ¿Será alguna vez el ordenador capaz de sustituir al profesor?. Por nuestra parte, presentaremos la aplicación a la enseñanza.

    Since the 1960s has computers been used as a tool in teaching in Norway. The first attempts were big computers with primitive programmes asking the students yes/no answers, calculating a result in the end. The feedback given was mechanical, and did not evaluate the arguments the students put forward, but simply if they managed to reproduce facts. This is still much the case the way computers are used as tools in teaching . Such feedback is without doubt pedagogical imperfect, and scepticism towards computers replacing teachers are been rightfully put forward. Nevertheless, at the department of history in Bergen we are currently finishing a web-application that is supposed to replace the teacher. Every term a few students need to learn how to read hand-written historical manuscripts, or gothic handwriting. This is a handwriting students of today are unfamiliar with. Because so few students need them every term, there is no course given in this from the university, and the responsibility is thus put on the students themselves and often to the scholar who is supervising the student. Formally, the web-course does not replace any teacher as there are no teachers hired to do the job, in reality, the web-course takes burdens of already overworked scholars. In addition to students, the application is offered to the general public. The local State Archive intend to become digital with all material with some user-frequency as images on the Internet. The availability of the material makes it natural to provide help, or a course, in how to read these manuscripts, also on the Internet. This paper will discuss the expediency of online teaching applications, especially those who "replace" the teacher. Will the computer ever be able to replace the teacher? Further, the teaching application will be presented.
