    El objetivo de este artículo es describir la ética de la responsabilidad formulada por Hans Jonas, pensador clave del siglo XX, y proyectar su impacto en el ámbito de la convivencia, la resolución de conflictos y especialmente de la mediación.

    Esta nueva ética de la responsabilidad, constituye un enfoque diferente y un giro de las éticas tradicionales en relación con el principio de la responsabilidad. Esta ética trata de dar respuesta al nuevo contexto, especialmente el planteado por el avance de la tecnología y las implicaciones que se derivan para la humanidad y su supervivencia, desplazando la orientación de la ética hacia el futuro, y definiendo unos nuevos deberes ante la constatación de nuevas modalidades de poder sin precedentes hasta este momento. Este deber se resume en el concepto de responsabilidad más allá del impacto momentáneo, y está vinculado con las acciones que afectan al futuro.

    Este marco ético formulado por Hans Jonas resulta relevante, a efectos de la mediación, entendida como medio adecuado y responsable para la resolución de conflictos, puesto que pone de manifiesto la necesaria responsabilidad de los actores sociales, ante los diversos riesgos emergentes, no solo en el ámbito de la tecnología sino también en la promoción de una convivencia pacífica y humanizante en todos los órdenes. Para ello, parece necesario el desarrollo de los MASC, y entre ellos la mediación, desde el punto de vista de la sostenibilidad de la convivencia pacífica, como método de resolución responsable y dialogante de los conflictos, que incorporen la prudencia y una ética del respeto.

    The aim of this article is to describe the ethics of responsibility formulated by Hans Jonas, a key thinker of the 20th century, and to project its impact in the field of coexistence, conflict resolution and especially mediation.

    This new ethics of responsibility is a different approach and a departure from traditional ethics in relation to the principle of responsibility. This ethics attempts to respond to the new context, especially that posed by the advance of technology and its implications for humanity and its survival, shifting the orientation of ethics towards the future, and defining new duties in the face of the realization of new forms of power unprecedented until now. This duty is summed up in the concept of responsibility beyond the momentary impact and is linked to actions that affect the future.

    This ethical framework formulated by Hans Jonas is relevant for the purposes of mediation, understood as an appropriate and responsible means of conflict resolution, since it highlights the necessary responsibility of social actors in the face of the various emerging risks, not only in the field of technology but also in the promotion of peaceful and humanizing coexistence at all levels. To this end, it seems necessary to develop ADR, including mediation, from the point of view of the sustainability of peaceful coexistence, as a method of responsible conflict resolution and dialogue, incorporating prudence and an ethic of respect.
