Jonathan Israel considera que el comercio con la Península Ibérica fue uno de los "oficios ricos" en los que los holandeses sólo tuvieron una participación menor. Basado en el análisis de los "libros de puerto" del faro Paalgeld (registro de tasas) he reconstruido el total de ingresos de Amsterdam para el período 1771-1787. Esta comunicación se centrará en el desarrollo del comercio holandés con España y Portugal a finales del Siglo XVIII. Dado el volumen de datos manejado, ha sido imperativo el uso de la informática en su análisis.

The trade with the Iberian Peninsula is regarded by Jonathan Israel as one of the "rich trades" in which the Dutch had just a minor part. Based on an analysis of the portbooks of the Paalgeld leavy (a beaconage) I have made a reconstruction of the total imports of Amsterdam for the period 1771-1787. In this paper I will describe the development of the Dutch trade with Spain and Portugal at the end of the 18th century. The amount of data used made it imperative to use computers for this analysis.
