  • Resumen
    • The aim of this study is to analyse terminological innovation through metaphor in a current and constantly changing field such as Assisted Reproduction (AR). Our analysis is based on a corpus of specialised texts in this field divided into four temporal sections, from 1992 to 2019. Using the textual analysis tool Sketch Engine, we check the vitality of the language of this specialised field, which is evolving at the same rate as scientific and technological advances in AR. Our final aim is to show how the creation of terminology using metaphor allows us to access the way in which the conceptual network of the domain expands to new concepts. To do this, we have characterised the terminological neology and its evolution in this context, and then examined the conceptual schemes of terminological creation through metaphor. For the analysis of the terminological metaphors extracted from our corpus, we adopt the perspective of the cognitive theory of metaphor and use Díaz Rojo’s (2005) proposal, supplemented by Salager-Meyer’s (1990) classification.
