La reciente aparición de la escritura notarial por la que se documenta la venta del actual Cristo del Calvario a la antigua cofradía de la Presentación de Nuestra Señora, de los mulatos de Sevilla, ha permitido dilucidar la historia del crucificado y, cómo en un plazo relativamente breve desde su hechura, pasó a convertirse en la imagen referencial de la corporación a lo largo de su existencia, e incluso, más allá de la propia cofradía étnica durante los tiempos modernos, en su derivación contemporánea a partir de 1886 con el surgimiento de la actual hermandad del Calvario, como su continuadora.

The recent appearance of the notarial writing by which the sale of the actual Christ of Calvary is documented to the old brotherhood of the Presentation of Our Lady, of the mulattos of Seville, has allowed to elucidate the history of the crucified and, how within a period relatively brief from its making, became the referential image of the corporation throughout its existence, and even, beyond the ethnic brotherhood itself during Modern times, in its contemporary derivation from 1886 with the emergence of the current brotherhood of Calvary as its continuator.
