La prehistoria periodística de Bécquer: las crónicas teatrales de Aqueronte y Gustavo en La Aurora

    Aunque son las Rimas y Leyendas las que hacen de Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer una figura universal de las letras españolas, este poeta escribió igualmente —amén de otras obras de diversa índole literaria— una ingente cantidad de textos periodísticos que se han ido localizando con el tiempo. En el contexto de esa labor, la investigadora Marta Palenque descubrió hace años en una colección de La Aurora, revista en la que Bécquer habría publicado sus versos según Julio Nombela, unas crónicas teatrales firmadas bajo el seudónimo Aqueronte y otras con el nombre de Gustavo. Desde un riguroso análisis textual, histórico y biográfico, Palenque ha planteado la posibilidad de que este último sea en realidad el célebre poeta sevillano, aunque manteniendo prudentes reservas. El contenido de este artículo no solo refuerza esta identificación, sino que tiene el propósito de demostrar que detrás de Aqueronte también estaba la pluma de Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer.

    Although it is las Rimas y Leyendas that make Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer a universal figure of spanish letters, this poet also wrote —in addition to other works of a diverse literary nature— a huge number of journalistic texts that have been located over time. In the context of this work, the researcher Marta Palenque discovered years ago in a collection of La Aurora, a magazine in which Bécquer would have published his verses according to Julio Nombela, some theatrical chronicles signed under the pseudonym Aqueronte and others with the name of Gustavo. From a rigorous textual, historical and biographical analysis, Palenque has raised the possibility that the latter may actually be the famous Sevillian poet, although maintaining prudent reservations. The content of this article not only reinforces this identification, but has also the purpose of proving that behind Aqueronte was also the pen of Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer.
