    En Sevilla, los contratos de alquiler constituyen, quizá, el tipo de documento más frecuente en los protocolos notariales de la Edad Moderna. Teniendo en cuenta este hecho y la escasa bibliografía dedicada específicamente al tema, este artículo analiza el fenómeno del alquiler en una ciudad como Sevilla en el último cuarto del siglo XVIII. Quiénes eran los arrendadores, cuál era el perfil de los arrendatarios, la tipología de los distintos inmuebles y otros aspectos tratados en las siguientes páginas ayudan a perfilar un mercado muy activo, concentrado en pocas manos y que estaba a punto de enfrentar cambios sustanciales con el fin del Antiguo Régimen y la consolidación de la burguesía como clase dominante.

    Rental contracts constitute, perhaps, the most frequent type of document in notarial protocols during the Modern Age. Based on this fact, and the scarce bibliography specifically dedicated to the subject, this paper analyzes the phenomenon of renting in a city like Seville in the last quarter of the 18th century. Who were the landlords, what was the profile of the tenants, the typology of the different properties, and other aspects discussed in the following pages help outline a highly active market, concentrated in a few hands and on the verge of facing substantial changes with the end of the Old Regime and the consolidation of the bourgeoisie as the dominant class.
