    Son escasos en el momento actual los estudios que descienden verdaderamente al nivel prosopográfico para observar exhaustivamente la realidad de los niños del coro de las catedrales hispanas bajomedievales. Ese es precisamente el objetivo de este artículo, complementar los estudios institucionales ya existentes para la catedral de Toledo con el enfoque prosopográfico. Gracias a los libros de Presencias en Tercios, a las Actas Capitulares y a los libros de Sucesión de Prebendas −todos en el Archivo Capitular de Toledo−, se puede comprender en gran medida la identidad de la infancia a la sombra de la catedral de Toledo. Tras recoger en una base de datos relacional y analizar la información cuantitativa y cualitativa seleccionada, se propone a los lectores un recorrido por la vida de estos «clerizones». Comenzará con una contextualización institucional, para después exponer sus orígenes geográficos y sociales, los emolumentos que recibían y su posterior carrera eclesiástica.

    Currently, there are few studies that comprehensively adopt a prosopographical approach in order to observe the lives of choirboys in late-medieval Spanish cathedrals thoroughly. The aim of this article is to complement existing institutional studies on the Toledo Cathedral adopting a prosopographical approach. Thanks to documents found in the archival collections entitled «Presencias en Tercios», the capitular records, and the collection called «Sucesión de Prebendas», all of which are located in the Archivo Capitular de Toledo (the Archive of the Toledo Cathedral), we can significantly establish the identity of the children that grew up in the shadow of the Toledo Cathedral. After compiling a database with family ties and analysing the selected quantitative and qualitative information, we offer an overview of the lives of these choirboys (clerizones). We will begin with the institutional context, followed by their geographical and social origins, the income they received and conclude with their subsequent ecclesiastical career.
