    En este artículo demostramos que el reparto del botín de guerra en el reino visigodo de Toledo fue una práctica social que sustentaba al poder regio. Los reyes, como líderes guerreros, controlaban la distribución de los bienes capturados en las batallas, y a partir de ese reparto fortalecieron sus relaciones sociales o construyeron unas nuevas con la aristocracia laica y eclesiástica, los guerreros y los habitantes de las ciudades. También argumentamos que el reparto del botín fue parte del arco narrativo del triunfo bélico.

    In this paper, we provide evidence that proves that the distribution of the spoils of war in the Visigothic kingdom of Toledo was a social practice that supported the royal power. The kings, as warrior leaders, controlled the distribution of the spoil and from this distribution, they strengthened their social relationships or built new ones with the secular and ecclesiastical aristocracy, the warriors, and the inhabitants of the cities. Also, we argue that the distribution of the spoils of war was part of the narrative trope of the triumph of war.
