In this article, we present a critical analysis of the Baptismal Chapel of the Church of San Nicolás de Bari in Úbeda, as well as its relationship with other more significant Renaissance creations. Among these, we include the octagonal chapel of Santo Domingo Convent in La Guardia and the Junterón Chapel in the Cathedral of Murcia.
We propose a morphological revision through graphic analysis to, from a technical and rigorous standpoint, study the solution presented in relation to the descriptions of the vault typologies generated by translation found in Alonso de Vandelvira's manuscript. Therefore, the goal of this study is to investigate the connections within this work in relation to those previously mentioned, as previously stated, by establishing equivalences through a comparison with Vandelvira's son's treatise on masonry.
Our intention is to highlight the heritage value of this piece and, to the best of our ability, increase its visibility and transfer its knowledge, both to the scientific community and to other individuals interested in these matters.
