Resumen de COMPETITIVIDAD Y DESARROLLO SOSTENIBLE: UN ESTUDIO DE DATOS DE PANEL PARA AMÉRICA LATINA

  El objetivo es identificar la influencia del ecosistema en la competitividad y el desarrollo sostenible, considerando para ello variables propias de las dimensiones social, económica y ambiental. Empleando un análisis de datos de panel, se estimó la relación entre el índice de desarrollo sostenible, las variables ambientales (emisiones de CO2) y los pilares de la competitividad. Los resultados indican que la sostenibilidad se explica por la institucionalidad, la educación, el desarrollo financiero y la innovación; mientras que las emisiones de CO2 se ven afectadas por la infraestructura, el entorno macroeconómico, la educación, el desarrollo financiero, el tamaño mercado y la innovación. En la región se evidencian mejoras en la dimensión social y económica del desarrollo sostenible, más no así en la reducción de emisiones de CO2 y de huella de materiales. Se puede concluir que los pilares de la competitividad generan un impacto positivo en el índice de sostenibilidad, en tanto que en las emisiones de CO2 se evidencia una relación inversa con la estabilidad macroeconómica

  The purpose is to identify the influence of the ecosystem on competitiveness and sustainable development, considering variables specific to the social, economic and environmental dimensions. Using a panel data analysis for Latin American countries, with fixed and random effects, to be selected through the Hausman test, the relationship between the sustainable development index, the environmental variables (CO2 emissions) and the pillars of the competitiveness. The results indicate that sustainability is explained by institutions, education, financial development and innovation; while CO2 emissions are affected by infrastructure, the macroeconomic environment, education, financial development, market size and innovation. In the region, improvements are evident in the social and economic dimension of sustainable development, but not in the reduction of CO2 emissions and material footprint. From these findings it can be concluded that the pillars of competitiveness have a positive impact on the sustainability index, while CO2 emissions show an inverse relationship with macroeconomic stability
