La obra del jurisconsulto y canonista flamenco Zeger-Bernard Van Espen (1646-1728) tuvo una gran incidencia en la España del siglo XVIII. En el trabajo se precisa cómo penetró su obra y qué españoles fueron sus primeros lectores y difusores hasta influir de manera muy importante en la política religiosa de Carlos III y en los grupos episcopalistas del reinado de Carlos IV.
The works of the Flemish jurist and expert in canon law Zeger-Bernhard Van Espen (1646-1728) were very influential in XVIII Century Spain. In this study the extent of the penetration of these works in described, as well as the manner in which the Spanish became the first readers and main promoters. They eventually became one of the mainstays of the religious policies of Carlos III and of groups of Episcopalians in the reign of Carlos IV.
