  Se pretende plasmar en lo expuesto aquello que no observamos a simple vista en la iglesia Santa María de Guareña, concretamente son marcas existentes realizadas en los sillares, columnas, bóvedas, etc. por los propios constructores de obras religiosas y civiles. Estas marcas han sido talladas en la piedra, reciben distintos nombres, como marcas de canteros o marcas lapidarias.

  Por ser difícil y complicado determinar su significado, su ¿por qué?, es por ello, necesario catalogar y registrar estas marcas en las distintas obras religiosas y civiles para su futura divulgación e incluso generar un sistema de información geográfica que pueda relacionarlas y así obtener su verdadero significado, en muchos casos aún desconocido, pues poco o nada hay escrito sobre su verdadero significado.

  Cada vez que miramos lentamente a la obra de fábrica de la iglesia de Santa María de la Asunción encontramos algo nuevo o desconocido, por ello se pretende transcribir y catalogar con imágenes aquellas marcas que se han encontrado en la obra del templo. Es muy probable que queden algunas si registrar.
