    El presente artículo constituye una aproximación al estudio de los efectos causados en las tierras valencianas, durante el siglo XVIII, por las violentas oscilaciones meteorológicas. La combinación de largos períodos de sequía con otros de precipitaciones esporádicas, pero de muy alta intensidad horaria, originaba situaciones de extrema gravedad. La piedad popular y la solicitud de un trato fiscal de favor solían ser los recursos a los que habitualmente acudían las poblaciones afectadas.

    The present article constitutes an approximation to the study of the effects caused by the violent meteorological oscillations during the 18th Century. The combination of long periods of drought with others of sporadic precipitations lasting long hours, caused very severe conditions. The affected populations usually had to turn to local piety and the petition of a preferential fiscal treatment, for help.
