    Las peatonalizaciones suelen suponer la transformación física de la urbanización de las calles afectadas. Este artículo investiga sus efectos sobre la actividad humana, en el caso del pequeño municipio madrileño de Torrelodones (España). Para ello, estudia y compara los flujos peatonales, las actividades estacionarias desarrolladas en el espacio público, y la actividad de las plantas bajas de la edificación adyacente, en tres momentos diferentes. Primero, en 2013, antes de la reurbanización realizada en 2014-2015, pero con el acceso ya restringido al tráfico rodado. A los dos años, en 2017, y cinco años después, en 2022, para investigar la situación a corto y medio plazo. El estudio muestra un aumento significativo en la actividad estacionaria, sobre todo en la vinculada a la hostelería, que se mantiene en los años siguientes, transformando los usos de locales adyacentes.

    Pedestrianization usually involves the redesign and layout transformation of those streets involved. This article investigates its effects on human activity, in the case of the small Madrilenian town of Torrelodones (Spain). To do so, we analyze and compare the pedestrian flows, the stationary activities in the public space, and the activity of the ground floors of the adjacent buildings, in three different moments. First, in 2013, before the redevelopment carried out in 2014-15, but with motor traffic already restricted in the affected street. Two years later, in 2017, and five years later, in 2022, to investigate the situation in the short and medium term. The study shows a significant increase in stationary activities, especially in outdoor catering, which continues in the following years, transform-ing the uses of adjacent premises.
