    Este artículo presenta la investigación realizada en la Educación Básica General del distrito de Santiago, Veraguas, con el fin de conocer las condiciones que alcanzan los estudiantes en la escuela para la práctica de la cultura de paz y ciudadanía. La información se obtuvo mediante consulta realizada a estudiantes y profesores sobre las experiencias concretas observables en el aula de clases en relación con la práctica de ciudadanía activa y cultura de paz, así como las estrategias utilizadas para promover estos valores en el aula. Se concluye que la práctica de una ciudadanía activa depende de la fortaleza que muestre la cultura de paz y los valores relacionados con ella, en la formación dada en el aula.

    This article presents the research carried out in the General Basic Education of the district of Santiago, Veraguas, to know about the conditions that students reach in school for the practice of the culture of peace and citizenship. The information was obtained by consulting students and teachers on the specific experience’s observable in the classroom in relation to the practice of active citizenship and culture of peace, as well as the strategies used to promote these values in the classroom. It is concluded that the practice of active citizenship depends on the strength shown by the culture of peace and the values related to it, in the training given in the classroom.
